Abstract

Bucephalandra sp is an endemic aquatic plant of Kalimantan Island that is often found in river areas. Exploitation of nature in large quantities can lead to the extinction of Bucephalandra sp. The application of tissue culture methods can produce a large number of seedlings to maintain the availability of Bucephalandra sp plants in nature. Propagation of the culture method requires the appropriate media composition with the addition of growth regulators to optimize explant growth. This research is a 2-factor factorial experiment using a completely randomized design. The first factor is the concentration of BAP (0; 1; 3; and 5 mg/l). The second factor is the concentration of coconut water (0; 50; and 100 ml/l). Data analysis was done with ANOVA variance test followed by DMRT 5% test. The results of the study showed that the media with a single treatment of BAP 3 mg/l showed the best shoot growth results of Bucephalandra sp. explants while the addition of coconut water had no effect on the growth of Bucephalandra sp. MS media without the treatment of adding BAP and coconut water can grow Bucephalandra sp. explants.
