Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the crops with high economic value. Paenibacillus polymyxa is an antagonistic bacterium that can increase plant resistance and plant growth. The research aims to determine the potential of Paenibacillus polymyxa on molasses carrier media against wilt disease (Fusarium sp.) of cayenne pepper plants and to determine the most effective concentration of molasses carrier media for Paenibacillus polymyxa in controlling wilt disease (Fusarium sp.). The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), with four treatments. The results of the experimental test were further tested with BNJ 5%. The results showed that the observation of the incubation period and the intensity of Fusarium wilt disease had very significant differences from each treatment, while the observation of the number of leaves and plant height did not show significant differences from each treatment. The treatment of Paenibacillus polymyxa+30% molasses showed the best results for the incubation period and disease intensity, thus showing the effect between molasses concentration and the occurrence of fusarium wilt disease in cayenne pepper plants.
