Abstract

The rapid development of the population along with the progress and improvement of living standards and community activities has led to an increase in water consumption to meet community needs. Nowadays water is a problem that must get more serious attention. This is due to the increase in various kinds of pollution both from households, industry, trade, agriculture and other development process activities. The increase in population makes the area along the river basin a priority location for activities such as living, washing, bathing and even disposing of garbage. Besides the river carrying the burden of population waste, it must also accommodate waste discharges from industrial plants. Humans need relatively clean water to carry out daily activities. The quality of water that is facilitated for human activities must not be allowed to decline and be detrimental to human welfare and the continuity of civilization. Therefore, a clean water or drinking water treatment system is needed where the water produced can be guaranteed quality, as well as quantity according to the clean water quality standards or drinking water standards set. In general, clean water technical planning in urban areas is intended to support the need for clean water with a quality that is suitable for public health. For example, by taking water by rainfed or taking water from the river where they live which is located far from housing. This is certainly less efficient because it is dangerous for public health and safety. In addition, the community also cannot rely on rainwater because rainwater does not always fall depending on the season. This limitation results in the need for drinking water treatment through a process with the development of various alternatives that can be applied, so it is necessary to plan a drinking water treatment building based on the quality and quantity available.
