Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon of video games which is a new medium for disseminating information about culture. This shows that culture can not only be spread through mainstream media but can also be spread using video games that are easy to reach by various parties. Folklore, which is a part of culture that has been transmitted from generation to generation, is featured in DreadOut2. This research focuses on how local fochlor is described in terms of its character and myths. The researcher used Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method in analyzing 6 scenes which were further divided into 47 shots. Based on the research that has been done, the researcher concludes that the folklore featured in the video game Dreadout 2 is related to local mystics in general. Researchers see that this is raised by game developers because the practice of things related to mysticism is still busy around us. Keywords: Folklore, Culture, Video Game, Semiotics
