Abstract
The tobacco industry in Indonesia plays a significant economic role with a long history dating back to the colonial era. Currently, Indonesia ranks among the highest in global cigarette consumption, with numbers rising from 182 billion cigarettes in 2001 to 341.9 billion in 2013. This high consumption contributes substantially to national tax revenue, with tobacco excise projected to reach IDR 136.12 trillion in 2015. Despite its economic benefits, the tobacco industry generates hazardous wastewater, necessitating effective treatment solutions. This project aims to design a wastewater treatment facility for the tobacco industry, focusing on reducing pollutant parameters to meet environmental standards. The scope includes understanding waste characteristics, creating treatment process diagrams, and designing treatment units to ensure safe effluent discharge.
