Abstract
Land conflicts on Rempang Island have persisted for decades. The Rempang Island community consists of traditional communities from various tribes, including the Malay Tribe, the Sea Tribe, and several others, who have lived on the island for over 200 years. The conflict occurred when the government wanted to build the Rempang Eco-Park National Strategic Project. On September 7, 2023, a conflict arose when joint forces attempted to enter the settlement for land measurements and benchmarking. Rempang Island residents rejected this and blocked the road. During this incident, the media played a significant role in framing the news and shaping perspectives. This research aims to investigate how Tempo.co and Antaranews.com framed the clashes between officers and residents. The study utilizes Robert N. Entman's analysis. The researchers identified differences in framing when reporting on the Rempang Island conflict. Tempo.co asserted that the incident resulted from the government's ambitions in developing a Proyek Strategis Nasional, whereas Antaranews.com reported that authorities had employed humane and persuasive approaches in dealing with the incident.
