Abstract

The development of transnational crime means that many perpetrators of transnational crime are increasingly spreading and avoiding punishment in their home countries by fleeing abroad. This is of course very profitable for the perpetrator if there is no extradition agreement between the country of origin and the country of destination. Indonesia and Singapore have had an extradition agreement for fugitives who have escaped since 2007, but this agreement cannot be passed into law because Indonesia has not ratified the agreement because of Singapore's defense agreement, namely the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA), which is a package in the extradition agreement. . The aim of this research is to find out the reasons for Indonesia's decision to ratify the extradition agreement between Indonesia and Singapore in 2019-2022. To find out this, the author uses the theory of transnational crime and international agreements with qualitative methods. The data that the author has collected is through journals, books and news. The results of the research that the author got were that Indonesia ratified the extradition agreement with Singapore because of economic interests and security interests that could benefit Indonesia. Keywords: Extradition Treaty, Ratification, Indonesia
