Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the phenomenon of the Generation Z lifestyle in reading digital comics LINE Webtoon. The development of popular culture from South Korea made Generation Z get to know Korean popular culture, one of which is LINE Webtoon. The increasing popularity of Korean culture has made Generation Z develop into a part of their lifestyle. As part of Generation Z, reading digital comics has become a lifestyle. The LINE Webtoon application is present as one of the platforms favored by Generation Z. This research uses a qualitative type of research using the uses and gratification theory. The results show that there is a shift in the lifestyle of Generation Z and reading digital comics on the LINE Webtoon application is a popular culture that has become the lifestyle of Generation Z, especially LINE Webtoon is able to become a medium for satisfying the needs of Generation Z as well as having an impact on Generation Z's lifestyle such as art, music and food.
