Abstract

Solid waste is still a major problem in the Gresik Regency area, one of which is in Bungah District. In 2020, the population reached 65,298 people with a population growth rate per year 2010-2020 of 1.21%. However, the condition of population growth, which is increasing every year, is not balanced with adequate waste management facilities in the area. There are several areas that do not yet receive waste transportation services, so there is still a lot of illegal waste dumping along the Pantura route. Apart from that, transporting waste to the landfill is less than optimal due to the limited number of transport fleets and causes waste to accumulate in one location. Therefore, a solution is needed for waste management in Bungah District. The aim of this research is to determine the existing conditions of waste management in Bungah District, the amount of waste generated and to determine the composition of waste generation in Bungah District and to plan a 3R TPS to be built in Bungah District. The planning for TPS 3R in this research was carried out based on the Minister of Public Works Republic of Indonesia Regulation No. 03/PRT/M/2013 concerning the Implementation of Waste Facilities and Infrastructure and Technical Instructions for 3R-based Waste Processing Sites by the Director General of Human Settlements in 2020. The existing condition of waste management in Bungah District is limited to collecting waste which is then transported to the landfill. There is also management of waste which is collected and then dumped on open land owned by each village. The average waste generated by the community in the Bungah District area is 0.285 kg/person/day with a waste volume of 0.00136 m3 /person/day. The composition of the waste consists of 53.48% anorganic waste and 46.52% organic waste. The planning for TPS 3R which will be built in the Bungah District area requires a land area of 588.19 m2in the Bungah Village area. The waste volume capacity that can be processed is 20.4 m3/day. The planned waste processing at TPS 3R in the Bungah District area consists of processing organic waste using an open windrow composting process with the help of a bamboo aerator and processing anorganic waste which is sorted and grouped based on type which will then be disposed of to third parties. TPS 3R consists of several spaces including a waste reception room, sorting room, anorganic waste storage room, plastic waste processing room, organic waste processing room, residual waste storage room, and space for supporting facilities.
