Abstract

Robusta (Coffea canephora) is one of the many types of coffee cultivated in Indonesia and has become one of the leading commodities. Coffee beans including seeds that have a long dormancy period, thus inhibiting the process germination. Dormancy breaking can be done by several methods, one of them is by soaking in natural growth regulators (PGR). To break dormancy, use a soaking treatment with natural PGR. Natural treatment can be combined with long soaking. The purpose of this research was to determine the combination of natural PGR treatment and time proper soaking for germination of Robusta coffee seeds. Study carried out in July-November 2023 at UPT Perbenihan Tanaman Hutan Provinsi Jawa Timur. This research is Completely Randomized Factorial Design experiment with the first factor the type of natural PGR and the second factor is the soaking time. Research result shows that there is an interaction between the type of natural PGR and the length of soaking has a real effect on the parameters of germination and growth potential maximum, growth simultaneity, root length, sprout height, and rupture cotyledons.
