Abstract

The existence of Instagram makes it easy for users to access information, news, experiences and opinions just in the palm of their hands. Various Instagram features make interaction easier and more varied, one of which is forming a community. BeHome is a virtual community on Instagram consisting of children from broken homes. The BeHome Community carries out cyberactivism activities through content and interactions on Instagram @behome.id intending to reduce the negative stigma in society regarding broken home children and foster an environment of mutual support for broken home children. This research aims to explore the cyberactivism activities of broken home children on Instagram @behome.id. The research uses a qualitative methodology and a netnography approach with Cyberactivism theory, Adaptive Strategy theory, and Connective Action theory. Research data was collected through observation and in-depth interviews with BeHome representatives (BeHome Ambassadors) and active BeHome followers. The results of the research show that cyberactivism carried out is a form of resistance to the stigma of children from broken homes. The use of John W. Bennett's three adaptive strategies, namely adjusting actions to meet environmental expectations, utilizing human resources as an important factor in the adaptation process, and strategies to lighten each other's burdens. Community solidarity in cyberactivism is voluntary and participation that occurs places more emphasis on personal expression as per the concept of connective action.
