Abstract

In Japan, there is one highly popular cultural phenomenon embraced by people worldwide, namely anime. Anime is a widely consumed form of popular culture that caters to a mass audience. It has the ability to captivate individuals from various age groups, ranging from children to adults. Several factors contribute to the popularity of anime, and one of them is the influence of mass media, which plays a crucial role in introducing and disseminating the ideologies embedded in anime to the public. This research aims to comprehend individuals' perspectives on anime as an integral part of the development of popular culture. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the study utilizes perceptual analysis. Data collection techniques involve In-Depth Interviews, documentation, and literature review. By extracting information and understanding subjective perceptions through informants related to the research topic, the study seeks to uncover insights into the subjective experiences of individuals regarding anime's role in shaping popular culture.
