Abstract
Communication between mothers and daughters must be built in harmony. Because the Javanese mother has a big role in choosing a partner child's life. If the communication that is built is not harmonious, conflict can occur occur. In the case study of Gempol Village, this village has its own habits of choosing a life partner, from Javanese customs to village myths. The study was conducted to describe the communication patterns of mothers and children Javanese women in the selection of a life partner. The theory used in this study is the communication pattern according to Bramrind and added with Another reinforcing theory is the dialogical theory of relations according to Mikhail Bakhtin. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This research carried out on pairs of Javanese mothers and daughters who are in life partner selection. Informants as many as five pairs and locations research in Gempol Village. The data in this study were collected by deep interview. The data analysis technique in this study went through three stages namely data processing, data analysis and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the communication patterns used in this pair of Javanese mother and daughter, can prove that they can persuading and maintaining Gempol Village customs in elections spouse. Although there are two types of communication patterns that arise from This research is Authoritative (democratic) and Authoritatian (authoritarian). But the five mothers proved to be imposing and have high control to children in the selection of a life partner. And in accordance with the dialogical theory relationship, as a mother tries to adjust her communication with children. Way which is used is the approach, listening to opinions and Use language that is comfortable for children. So that the child can respond, judge and initiate speech freely to his mother. By pattern communication that is applied and the above adjustment efforts result in children tend to have an obedient nature or obey their mother's orders, because they think more experienced and for the sake of gaining approval.
