Abstract
Bacterial wilt disease in chili pepper is caused by the bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum. This disease is a difficult disease to control because R. solanacearum bacteria are soil-borne bacteria. One of the control efforts to control bacterial wilt disease is by using biological agents such as Streptomyces sp. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of Streptomyces sp. isolates BMP and TMP in inhibiting the growth of R. solanacearum in vitro and in vivo. The study used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design. The first factor (S) is the Streptomyces isolate used, S1 for BMP (Bawang Merah Pare) and S2 for TMP (Tomat Pare). The second factor (K) is the concentration of Streptomyces application, K1 for 15% concentration and K2 for 20% concentration. Each treatment was repeated 5 times so there were 20 experimental units. The parameters observed were disease intensity, incubation period, plant height and number of leaves. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and further test using 5% LSD test. Inhibition test results showed that Streptomyces isolate TMP produced an inhibition zone of 1.5 cm2. The results of the virulence test showed that Streptomyces sp. isolate BMP had the greatest percentage reduction of 84.38%. In vivo testing showed that Streptomyces sp. isolate TMP 20% concentration was more effective in suppressing bacterial wilt disease. Keywords: Streptomyces spp., Ralstonia solanacearum, wilt disease, inhibition.
