Abstract
Land evaluation is crucial for determining the potential and suitability of land, considering characteristics such as climate, topography, and soil. The low yields in plantations are often caused by a lack of information about the potential resources and utilization of the area. Land evaluation is conducted to identify land potential, and its results provide guidance for structured land use planning. Vanilla plants (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) are the focus of research in the Wonosalam District. This research is of the evaluative type with a survey method (soil sampling). Observations of the area's characteristics include various land uses such as forests, orchards, fallow land, and rice fields. Observations also cover climate, environment, as well as the chemical and physical characteristics of the soil in the Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency. Different land uses also exhibit distinct characteristics, both in terms of biophysical and soil properties. The land suitability classes for vanilla cultivation in the Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency, vary from moderately suitable (S2) to marginally suitable (S3).
