Abstract
Kasturi tobacco is the main commodity in Jember Regency especially in Kalisat Village, Kalisat Sub-district. Kalisat Sub-district is the largest producer of katsuri tobacco. However, based on the results of initial observation in the Kalisat village, there is land conversion from tobacco plants to other commodities is done by some farmers. This study aims to: 1) analyze the technical efficiency in the use of kasturi tobacco production factors in Kalisat Village in 2017. 2) analyze the efficiency of prices in the use of kasturi tobacco production factors in Kalisat Village in 2017. 3) to analyze the feasibility of farming tobacco kasturi in Kalisat Village in 2017. This research was conducted in Kalisat Village, Kalisat Sub-district, Jember District, East Java. The data used are primary data. The analyzer used is Frontier 4.1c. The sample of this research is 39 farmers of tobacco kasturi in Kalisat Village, Kalisat Sub-district. Variables in this research are land area (X1), seed (X2), fertilizer (X3), labor (X4) and yield (Y). The results obtained from the calculation of efficiency that is, the value of technical efficiency is 0.92. The efficiency of the price is -4.1 and the value of R/C is 4.7. The conclusion of this research is to know the result of technical efficiency and price efficiency. The results obtained are not efficient, but for the feasibility of tobacco farming kasturi feasible to be cultivated. In this study it’s suggested that farmers should utilize the factors of production that they have proportionately in order to achieve the level of efficiency.
