Abstract
Chicken egg shells are the main raw material because are abundant and chicken egg shells contain a lot of calcium carbonate. In research entitled Making Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer using chicken egg shells and Nitric Acid which aims to obtain Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer that meets the Indonesian National Standard and to determine the effect of nitric acid volume and reaction time on the quality of Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer. The results of this study the volume and reaction time affected the results of the Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer produced where the more volume of nitric acid added, the more chicken egg shells that reacted, the higher the calcium level in the fertilizer. The effect of reaction time in this study was that the longer the reaction time, the higher the nitrate level in the Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer, while the lower the calcium level in the Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer. The conclusion of this study is that the results of XRF analysis show that the calcium carbonate content in chicken egg shells is91.2%. In this study, the best conditions were obtained with a reaction time of 50 minutes and a volume of nitric acid as a solvent of 30 ml, namely a calcium level of 82% and a nitrate content of 9.1%. From these results Calcium Nitrate Fertilizer does not meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), especially in nitrate content.
