Abstract

Oxalic Acid Dihydrate Factory from Glucose with Acid Oxidation Process Nitrate with a capacity of 70,000 tons/year will be established in the International Area Industry City, Margakaya, District. Telukjambe Barat., Karawang, West Java. Factory It operates 24 hours a day, 330 days a year. The raw materials used are Glucose, Nitric acid, with the addition of Vanadium (V) catalyst oxide and Iron (III) sulfate. In the industrial sector, there is a lot of oxalic acid important role, including as a coating material to protect metal from scale, bleaching (bleaching agent), dye mixture in the textile industry as well as paint and as an initiator (raw material) in polymer factories and others. A brief description of the process of the oxalic acid factory, the raw materials used in the process of making oxalic acid are glucose and nitric acid 65% using vanadium pentoxide and iron (III) sulfate catalysts. Glucose is pumped into the reactor to be reacted with HNO3 using vanadium pentoxide and ferric sulfate catalyst. Oxalic acid formation reaction dihydrate in the reactor occurs at a temperature of 71oC and a pressure of 1 atm. Reaction takes place endothermically, so the reactor requires heating water flowed through the jacket so that the temperature remains constant at 71oC. Results from the reactor in the form of oxalic acid in the form of a slurry and gas (NO). Oxalic acid slurry flowed to the crystalliser while the resulting gas flowed to the gas holders. The resulting oxalic acid slurry from the reactor is flowed to the crystallizer and the temperature is cooled to 30oC then flowed to the centrifuge, mothe The liquor is recycled to the reactor while the oxalic acid crystals are dehydrated transferred to the screw conveyor and transferred to the rotary dryer for dried at 65oC. Dried oxalic acid dihydrate crystals transferred to the cooling conveyor and continued to the bucket elevator to be forwarded to the ball mill.
