Abstract
Abstract: The fieldwork internship conducted at Petrokimia Gresik, specifically in the Production Department IIIB, offered a comprehensive exposure to the production processes of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, aluminum fluoride, purified gypsum, and utilities. The internship was conducted under the guidance of a field supervisor from the aluminum fluoride plant. The primary objective of the internship was to provide practical insights into the intricate operations of a petrochemical facility, focusing on the diverse production units housed within the Production Department IIIB. The experience encompassed hands-on involvement in the manufacturing processes of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, aluminum fluoride, and purified gypsum, with a keen emphasis on safety protocols, environmental sustainability, and adherence to industry standards. The internship also involved active participation in the utility section, gaining exposure to the critical role of utilities in supporting overall plant operations. The field supervisor from the aluminum fluoride plant provided valuable guidance, sharing expertise related to the specific processes and challenges inherent to aluminum fluoride production. Throughout the internship, the intern engaged in process monitoring, quality control activities, and troubleshooting exercises. This practical experience not only deepened the understanding of unit operations and equipment functionality but also underscored the importance of efficient collaboration and communication within a multifaceted production environment. The exposure to various production units, coupled with the guidance from a specialized field supervisor, contributed to a holistic understanding of the petrochemical production landscape. The internship served as a platform for the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios and facilitated the development of problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and adaptability to industry-specific challenges. In conclusion, the fieldwork internship at Petrokimia Gresik, Production Department IIIB, provided a valuable and enriching experience. It equipped the intern with practical skills and insights necessary for a future career in the complex and dynamic field of petrochemical production, with a specific focus on aluminum fluoride manufacturing.
