Abstract
The basic ingredients for making pulp are materials that contain cellulose such as wood and non-wood. The soda process is one of the processes for making pulp based materials using chemical methods. Processes with the basic ingredient pulping soda generally use NaOH as an ingredient in the cooking solution. Pineapple crown powder has the potential to used as a basic ingredient for pulp because it contains 69.057% alpha cellulose and lignin of 6.79%. The aim of this research is to study the effect of concentration NaOH and delignification time on yield, alpha cellulose content, lignin content, on synthesis pulp base material from pineapple crowns and determine the tensile resistance of the pulp base material which complies with SNI. In this research, the pulp base material was made using the soda process uses pineapple crown raw materials with varying NaOH concentrations of 2.5%; 5%; 7.5%; 10%; 12.5% and ripening time 30; 60; 90; 120; 150 minutes. Research result The best is obtained by using a NaOH concentration of 10% with a cooking time of 150 minutes, with yield, cellulose content, and lignin content sequentially equal to 65.902%; 87.0628%; and 5.3946%, and obtained the results of testing the paper tensile strength of the material basic pineapple crown pulp is 4.67 N/mm2 or 4670 kN/m2 .
