Abstract

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) can be developed through plant propagation using the shoot grafting method. The problem that often occurs is the distance between the parent tree and the grafting location, which requires a long time and a large number of grafting which is difficult to complete in one day. The purpose of this study was to obtain a combination of storage time and the type of entres wrapping on the growth of mango shoot-grafting seedlings. The research was conducted from April to August 2023 at the UPT. Horticultural Seed Development using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors repeated 3 times. The first factor was the length of storage (L) (0 days, 2 days, 4 days, and 6 days) and the second factor was the type of wrapping (M) (no wrapping, banana leaf wrapping, newspaper wrapping, and coconut fiber wrapping). The parameters observed included shoot emergence, percentage of live grafting, shoot length and total number of leaves. The results showed that all observation parameters interacted except the percentage of live grafting. The combination treatment of 2 days storage time with banana leaf wrapper (L1M1) was better because of the acceleration in all parameters compared to no storage.
