Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of farmers, the factors that influence farmers' decision to switch sweet orange farming to lime farming and find out the comparison of sweet orange farming with lime in Kebon Agung Village, Ujung Pangkah District, Gresik Regency. The sample used was 30 sweet orange farmers who switched to lime with descriptive analysis, factor analysis and farming analysis. The results of this study concluded that the characteristics of farmers who switch to lime farming average age between 26-35 years, junior high school education, average land area of 0.76-1 ha, income of 4-6 million per month, more experience from 3 years, farming risk is low or not at risk and the participation of farmers in extension activities on average farmers often attend 3 meetings held 4 times a month, factors that are significantly related to changes in farmers' decisions in choosing lime farming are extension variables because there is a real or significant relationship to the decision of farmers to choose lime farming and income from lime and sweet orange farming per hectare per year is profitable, with revenues greater than the costs incurred but income for lime farming is greater than citrus farming sweet with R / C Ratio> 2.
