Abstract

Tofu industry liquid waste is obtained from the tofu making process contains relatively high levels of COD and BOD so it is not suitable for disposal environment. This research aims to determine the performance of zeolite adsorbents, charcoal active, coconut fiber and ozone in reducing COD and BOD levels in liquid waste industry knows to meet waste quality standards. The research observed is COD and BOD values with samples from liquid waste from the FN tofu factory industry located in Wading, Gresik district. Obtained the initial content value of tofu waste for COD was 4784.69 mg/l and BOD was 1775.20 mg/l. Once done research through an adsorption process where tofu liquid waste is contacted with The adsorbents are coconut fiber, activated carbon and zeolite, then the ozonation process is continued. The addition of adsorbents can reduce the organic substances contained in tofu waste and with the process of using ozone from an ozonizer device break down organic compounds into simpler ones. The research results show that the longer the ozone contact time of tofu industrial liquid wastewater, COD and BOD levels will also increase down. To reduce COD levels in 50 minutes with a volume of 300 ml of 85.45 mg/l and BOD levels of 72.78 mg/l with reduction efficiency The COD obtained was 98.21% and the BOD reduction efficiency was 95.9% which has met government standards.
