Abstract

The One Piece anime is an animated series about the journey of a boy named Monkey D. Luffy to become a pirate king, adapted from a comic book by Eiichiro Oda. Film produced by Toei Animation. This animated film is the subject of research because researchers see a hegemonic representation that can be displayed from the film. In an effort to prove this representation, this research uses a qualitative approach through an analysis method from John Fiske's semiotic theory called "Television Codes". Through analysis using television code theory which consists of three levels, namely the reality level, representation level and ideology level in several scenes and scenes in which several shots are selected. From the research results, the researcher concluded that the representation of hegemony appears clearly if you pay close attention. This shows that the use of military equipment in implementing world government hegemony plays a role in the success of achieving domination. Keywords: Representation, Hegemony, Film, Semiotics
