Abstract

Diversity is a measure of the integration of a biological community by counting and considering the number of populations that make it up with their relative abundance. Organic farming cannot be separated from economic, environmental and social dimensions. Organic farming is not only limited to eliminating the use of synthetic inputs, but also the sustainable use of natural resources, producing healthy food and saving energy. This research was carried out with the aim ofdetermine the role of diversity and arthropod populations found in organic vegetables in polyculture cropping systems and uto determine the role of refugia plants as a medium for the conservation of natural enemies and biological control of pests in organic vegetable fields. The method used in this research ispurposive sampling by using a trap, namelyyellow sticky trap, sweep net, pitfall trap and direct observationvisual. This research was conducted in Brenjonk Village, Trawas District, East Java on organic vegetable plantations grown in polyculture. The calculation results show that the diversity index (H') value in organic vegetable fields is 3.02. The results of the Simpson (C) calculation analysis for organic vegetable land show a value of 0.06. The result of the type evenness index (E) of the calculation analysis is 0.87. Meanwhile, the analysis value for calculating the species richness index (R1) is 4. The conclusion of this research is that the species diversity index (H') is in the medium category, the Simpson dominance index (C) is in the lower category, the species evenness index (E) is in the high evenness category and the Type richness (R1) has a medium type category.The role of refugia plants is as a medium for the conservation of natural enemy arthropods in vegetable fields, which can reduce pest populations and control biological pests without using chemicals or pesticides for control in organic vegetable fields.
