Abstract

This research raises the topic of grouping potential sectors in Malang Raya through the application of a quantitative descriptive test approach using Gross Regional Domestic Product based on constant prices in 2017-2021 as data in this study. The calculation models used are the Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient, Shift Share, and Klassen Typology study methods. According to the results of the study of the four models used, it is known that there are sectors with superior potential among the 17 existing economic sectors, namely the Information and Communication Sector, and the Health Services and Social Activities Sector which are considered capable of driving economic growth in the local area and at the provincial level. Through this study, it is hoped that the government can pay more attention to optimizing potential sectors and economic sectors that are considered not yet superior in order to create economic balance and not always depend on certain sectors. The goal is that all sectors are able to make a full contribution to the regional and national development process based on policies in planning the development process in order to increase economic growth and the standard of living of the community as a manifestation of the success of better regional development. Keywords : Base Sector, Leading Sector, Economic Growth, Location Quotient, Dynamic LQ, Shift Share, Klassen Typology
