Abstract
Indonesia as a country that has recorded significant growth in its agricultural sector, is now faced with a series of challenges that threaten food security. The rapid growth in Indonesia's population to 261.9 million people is one of the main factors that brings up a number of very relevant issues in efforts to ensure adequate food supplies for the entire population of this country. With population growth continuing to increase from year to year, while on the other hand, available agricultural land is limited, there are concerns that a food crisis may occur. The government is encouraging sovereignty and East Java is one of the main regions for rice production in Indonesia, namely 17.4% in 2022, so to optimize rice production and understand the East Java agricultural system, a dynamic systems approach is used. From the model development and simulations developed, three scenarios were identified that influence rice production: technology improvement, fertilizer application, and a combination of both. The best scenario is to combine technology and fertilizer, which is estimated to increase rice production to 68,162,504 tons in 2030. This is an important step to maintain food security in East Java and overcome the challenges of population growth and limited availability of agricultural land.
