Abstract

Indonesia's high population makes Indonesia a potential market for transnational crime groups in making Indonesia a transit point and place to distribute drugs. Because of the problems currently being experienced, UNODC as an international organization that focuses on dealing with the problem of transnational crime is helping Indonesia in dealing with the drug trafficking problem that occurs in Indonesia. This research aims to find out the role of UNODC in tackling the problem of drug trafficking in Indonesia in 2017-2020. This research uses descriptive research and uses secondary data obtained online. This research uses the theory of the role of international organizations according to Kelly Kate Pease, who explains that international organizations have several roles, namely as problem solvers and capacity builders. The research results show the role of UNODC in overcoming the problem of drug trafficking in Indonesia in 2017-2020 through the role of problem solver, namely formulating the Indonesia country program and alternative development programs. Meanwhile, through the role of capacity builder, UNODC carries out capacity building for government officials or staff and the community. UNODC also provides financial assistance which is used to implement the programs that have been designed.
