Abstract
The tobacco commodity is one of the leading crops in Indonesia, this is because the planting area is spread widely across almost all Indonesian provinces. The high productivity of local tobacco makes Indonesia one of the tobacco exporting countries and a source of quite large foreign exchange earnings. However, every year Indonesia still imports tobacco because cigarette consumption continues to increase. Currently, Indonesia is in third place as the country with the most smokers in the world. This study aims to analyze the effect of production, exchange rates, consumption, and international prices of tobacco on tobacco imports in Indonesia for the period 2007-2021. This research approach is a quantitative research approach. The method used is a double linear regression analysis with the classic assumption done through the SPPS program version 26. This type of data in the study uses secondary data, while the data source used in this study was obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, and Worldbank. The results show that production, exchange rate, consumption and international prices of tobacco on tobacco imports in Indonesia. Partially, the production has no significant effect on Indonesian tobacco imports, the exchange rate has no significant effect on Indonesian tobacco imports, the consumption has a positive and significant effect on Indonesian tobacco imports, the international prices have no significant effect on Indonesian tobacco imports.
