Abstract

Drama series as one of the mass communication media has the ability to describe the phenomenon of reality in society. One of the phenomena in society raised in drama series is family conflict. "Suka Duka Berduka" is a drama series that features family conflicts with elements of satire comedy in it. The purpose of this research is to see how the representation of family conflict in the drama series "Suka Duka Berduka". The researcher will look at the representation of family conflict using John Fiske's semiotics with the codes of television theory on scenes depicting family conflict. The results revealed that family conflicts in the drama series "Suka Duka Berduka" are represented as upper-class family conflicts that include differences in values and opinions, financial problems and disputes over inheritance, communication problems, differences in parenting styles, and the influence of the external environment. In addition, researchers also found the depiction of materialism ideology and class ideology.
