Abstract
Indonesia is a country that has vast sea waters and the potential for sea water to be made into salt. But the quality of the sea water for salt production is still not optimal, the existing salt content is only reached 88.87%. This is due to impurities such as Magnesium ions (Mg) and Calcium (Ca) in salt which makes the salt content low. To improve the quality of salt, this is done by adding reagents excess so that the impurity in the salt is reduced. Therefore, in order to obtain maximum deposition, it is necessary to add reagents excess of the precipitation reaction. Reagents capable of precipitating Ca ions on The CaSO4 compound is Na2CO3. The aim of the research is to find order reaction and reaction rate constant of deposition of CaSO4 on salt. This research was carried out in the initial stage, namely recrystallization by dissolving folk salt with the addition of distilled water, stirred until the solution becomes saturated then filtered. After obtaining a saturated sea of salt, then add it Na2CO3 reagent to precipitate CaSO4 content. To get it If the sedimentation is maximum then additional reagents need to be given in excess and a long deposition time to increase the binding of Ca impuritis in CaSO4, the excess reagent and the stirring time used are 10%; 15%; 20%; 25%; 30% and 10; 20; 30; 40; 50 minutes. Based on the research carried out, the results obtained are: impuritis which was completely precipitated with the addition of 30% reagent and time stirring 50 minutes. The CaSO4 precipitation reaction rate constant is equal to 0.0039 is obtained from a pseudo first order linear graph which has an R2 value as big as 0.9165.
