Abstract

Salak seeds are a part of the snake fruit that has been underutilized so it ends up as waste. This research aims to find the best conditions absorption of activated carbon from salak seeds using a carbonization process based on variations activation concentration and soaking time to be used as tablet medicine. Method making activated carbon, namely physical and chemical activation, while making tablets, namely wet granulation. The variable used is 5 grams of 100 mesh snake fruit powder carbonized at 350 oC for 1 hour 30 minutes, soaked with H3PO4 activator, and drying temperature 120 oC. Variations in H3PO4 concentration in %v include 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2.0; 2.5 and soaking time in 1 hour; 1.5; 2; 2.5; 3. Based on research results, The best condition for activated charcoal absorption is 753,315 mg/g within 2 hours, 2.5% H3PO4. On Tablet analysis obtained tablet weight 112 mg, tablet thickness 3.867 mm, tablet hardness 3,654 kg and disintegration time 14 minutes.
