Abstract

Football is the most popular sport, holding significant profit potential when monetized or commercialized. Currently, football has transformed into a realm for a select few elites to seek profit, ultimately eroding the traditional values of the sport itself. This has sparked confrontations between fans and club elites or executives. The discourse surrounding the European Super League is yet another product of these club elites and executives, as part of their plan to maximize profits within football. This has led to negative reactions from various segments and elements within the football community. Supporters, who have proclaimed themselves as guardians of football's values, vehemently oppose the capitalist agenda to commodify football. Primarily, supporters in England have collectively mobilized in protest against their respective clubs' involvement in the European Super League discourse. This mobilization by English supporters represents their resistance to capitalism within football. Employing Marxist theory, the author seeks to analyze the reasons behind the supporters' rejection of the European Super League discourse. Within Marxism, several conceptual frameworks can elucidate the revolutionary actions of these supporters as they oppose and reject capitalism within football. Keywords: European Super League, Supporters, England, Capitalism
