Abstract
Pandemic in Indonesia has caused massive disinfectant spraying done in several places with spray, cubicle, and truck system. Those disinfectants products have different effectiveness toward bacteria and fungi, and different impact on skin too. Therefore, this research’s aim is to determine the effectiveness of aerosol disinfectant in reducing total bacteria and fungi, and identify the impact to the human skin. Methods used in this research are: Collecting 6 kind of disinfectants that are made from Sodium hypochlorite, Benzalkonium chloride, Chloroxylenol, and Pine oil at 5 predetermined locations. Respondent sampling using convenience sampling. Collecting bacteria and fungi samples before and after disinfectant spraying on respondent’s hand with swab technique. Disinfectant sprayed in 3 distances, that are 2 m, 1 m, and 0,5 m. Distributing questionnaire to respondents in order to know disinfectant’s impact on skin. The results obtained are, in terms of disinfectant material which effective in reducing bacteria and fungi is Disinfectant A (NaOCl 0,3% and C8H9OCl 0,01%), reduced the number of bacteria by 99%, and fungi 80% at 0,5 m. Disinfectant with the lowest effectiveness is B (C6H5CH2N(CH3)2RCl 0,02%), reduced the number of bacteria by 84%, and fungi 67% at 0,5 m. The most effective system is cubicle. Impacts felt on the respondents’s skin which caused itching are B (C6H5CH2N(CH3)2RCl 0,02%) a minute after spraying, and disinfectant C (NaOCl 0,005%; C10H18O 0,002%; C6H5CH2N(CH3)2RCl 0,0015%) 5 minutes after spraying, and F (NaOCl 0,01%; C10H18O 0,05%) 3 minutes after spraying. The ones that had no effect on human skin are A (NaOCl 0,3% and C8H9OCl 0,01%), D (C8H9OCl 0,014%, and C6H5CH2N(CH3)2RCl 0,015%), and E (NaOCl 0,05%). Keywords : Aerosol, bacteria, disinfectant, fungi.
