Abstract
Clean water is one of the human primary necessities. The imbalanced between clean water availability and rapid population growth impacts with unequal clean water distribution. These conditions make people look for other sources of clean water such as well water. Aside from clean water, well water as an alternative is often found to contain iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). The content of Fe can cause health problems such as nausea when consumed, damage to the intestinal wall and irritation to the eyes and skin. While Mn content that is above the quality standard can cause interference with the vascular vessels, heart, and nervous system. Multiple tray aerator pyramid is aeration using some trays arrangement that does not require large land and has high efficiency. This study used variations in the number of tray levels (1 level, 2 levels, 3 levels, 4 level,s and 5 levels) and aeration time (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes and 75 minutes) to determine the effect on decreasing Fe and Mn and find the most effective level and aeration time. The results showed the 4th level of multiple tray aerators with 75 minutes aeration time had the highest effectiveness of 83.39% for iron and 98.14% for manganese.
