Abstract
Pabrik Sorbitol dengan kapasitas 75.000 ton/tahun akan didirikan di Java Integrated and Ports Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, Jawa Timur. Pabrik ini akan beroperasi selama 24 jam dalam sehari dan selama 330 hari dalam setahun. Pabrik sorbitol menggunakan bahan baku Tepung Ubi Jalar yang diperoleh dari PT. Harvestar Flour Mills, Hidrogen dari PT. Samator, dan bahan pembantu seperti Kalsium Klorida dari PT. Tjiwi Kimia, Enzim dari Suson Industry Group, Raney Nickel dari Shenzen Finida Co.Ltd, serta Karbon Aktif dari PT. Intan Prima Karbon. Sorbitol dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan produk personal care, farmasi, makanan dan minuman serta bahan kimia Sorbitol dapat diproduksi dengan beberapa macam proses, yaitu antara lain reduksi elektrolitik dan hidrogenasi katalitik
