Abstract
Black Rice (Oryza sativa L. indica) is one type of rice that produces black rice with its advantage of containing anthocyanins which are a source of antioxidants. The content of black rice that is good for the human body provides a good opportunity for cultivation, but there are several problems that make this black rice plant still difficult to cultivate. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction between polybag size and the composition of planting media on the growth and yield of black rice plants. This research was conducted at the Climatology Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, National Development University "Veteran" Gunung Anyar, Surabaya, East Java, from March 2023 to July 2023. This research is a two factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment, namely polybag size, including; (1) 25x25; (2) 30x30; (3) 35x35; and (4) 40x40. As well as the composition of planting media includes; (1) soil; (2) soil + husk charcoal; and (3) soil + compost which all planting media compositions have a ratio of 1: 1. The results showed an interaction between polybag size and planting media composition on the parameters of the number of plants per clump, the number of panicles.
