Abstract

Jagir River, which a branch of the Brantas River, used as a waste disposal site by community activities. The residents’ activities caused Jagir River polluted and classified as class III where the parameters pH, COD, and TSS exceeded quality standards. This is contrary to its designation as tourism sector and river transportation. This research was conducted to analyze the levels of the parameters COD, TSS, BOD, pH, and temperature at each sampling points, apply and compare the Pollution Index, STORET, and BCWQI methods. The sampling points in this study were divided into 4 location points with regular monitoring, one week two sampling times, one day three sampling times, morning, afternoon, and evening. The research results obtained were 3 out 5 parameters that exceeded the established quality standards, PP No. 22 of 2021, namely COD, TSS, and BOD. The Pollution Index method has the highest value of 5,8 which is in the “Moderately Polluted” category. In the STORET method, the result is -25 and it is classified as a “Moderately Polluted” river. The last, the BCWQI method yielded 41,60 and was included in the “Moderately Polluted” category. The proper method to be used in this research is the Pollution Index method.
