Abstract

This study aims to test and analyze the effect of health sector government expenditure and education sector government expenditure on the human development index. This research uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study were provincial governments in Indonesia in 2017-2021 and the sampling technique was carried out using purposive sampling technique, therefore the number of samples in this study was 155 samples. The type of data used is secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) website, the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK), and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The data analysis technique used panel data regression analysis with the help of Eviews software. The results of this study indicate that health sector government expenditure does not affect the human development index of provincial governments in Indonesia. Meanwhile, government expenditure in the education sector affects the human development index of provincial governments in Indonesia. Government expenditure in the education sector also affects the components of the HDI, namely life expectancy, education, and expenditure per capita.
