Abstract

RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya is a type A hospital that has been equipped with a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) since 1997 and currently has an WWTP capacity of up to 750 m3/day or equivalent to 1,500 TT patients. In his daily life, the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya treats wastewater with a capacity of 218 m3/day, of course this affects the use of electrical energy and the potential environmental impacts that arise. From these conditions it is necessary to evaluate the need for electrical energy and the potential impacts that arise using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach using the SimaPro software and the Impact 2002+ method. From the results of the LCA analysis, it is known that the impacts of respiratory inorganics, global warming, and non-renewable energy are the 3 biggest impacts that arise. Alternative improvements that can be given to reduce the environmental impact of WWTP RSPAL dr. Ramelan Surabaya, namely by using a power inverter, monitoring, cleaning, updating periodically the processing unit, and implement the use of renewable energy. Keywords: Hospital Waste Water Treatment Plant, Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Impact Analysis.
