Abstract
Bareng District and Wonosalam District, Jombang Regency, are areas with significant agricultural and forestry potential. However, due to the development and changes in land use, there have been alterations in the characteristics of soil physical properties in this region. Improper land use and unsustainable farming practices can lead to soil degradation, decreased fertility, and an increased risk of soil erosion. The research was conducted from May 2023 to June 2023. The study was carried out in Bareng District and Wonosalam District, and the research locations were divided into 4 Land Plot Units (LPU) with three replications for each LPU. The research activities included: 1) Field surveys, 2) Direct field observations, 3) Soil sampling, 4) Laboratory analysis, 5) Data processing, and 6) Map creation. Land use can significantly influence soil physical properties. Some of the impacts include soil erosion, compaction, changes in organic matter content, and alterations in soil structure. Healthy soil is characterized by well-aggregated particles that allow for proper water and air circulation. Proper land use, with attention to sustainable soil management principles, can mitigate the negative effects on soil physical properties. The characteristics of soil physical properties vary across different land uses in Bareng and Wonosalam districts. Agricultural, plantation, and forest land uses have a positive impact on soil physical properties, such as increased organic matter content and improved groundwater infiltration. It is essential for farmers and land managers to consider the characteristics of soil physical properties and choose appropriate land use types. Keywords : Soil Physical Properties, Land Use, Soil Characteristics.
