Abstract
Islamic boarding school activities can influence community activities, one of which is in the economic field. In this study, researchers examined two Islamic boarding schools in Jombang Regency where the two Islamic boarding schools had different characters so that this difference could also get different results using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study show the difference in the interaction between Islamic boarding schools and the community and how much the Islamic boarding school contributes to the community's economy, seen from the spending of students spent and the places where students shop shows different results. The Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Foundation, which has many Islamic boarding schools in it and is in conjunction with the community environment, is freer in shopping and spends more pocket money per month compared to the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Foundation, which only has one centralized Islamic boarding school and minimizes students leaving so that expenses smaller students. This difference can be found in several factors in this study such as the programs provided by Islamic boarding schools for the community and also for students to manage their finances.
