Abstract

Chrysanthemums are a mainstay horticultural commodity with bright market prospects. Demand is high due to the beauty of their shapes, types, and colors. In the tropics, chrysanthemums require a certain temperature and altitude. Application of the ZPT gibberellin and cocopeat, husk charcoal, and soil media is expected to improve flower quality. Concentration and timing of ZPT application are important for plant growth and yield. This research is expected to be useful for chrysanthemum cultivation in the lowlands or tropics. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and 3 replications. Each combination contained 5 plants so that a total of 180 chrysanthemum plants were obtained. Factor 1: Concentration of gibberellin G0 0 ppm (control), G1 250 ppm, G2 500 ppm, G3 750 ppm. Factor 2: Type of planting media, W1 husk charcoal: cocopeat (1:1), W2 husk charcoal: soil (1:1), W3 husk charcoal: cocopeat: soil (1:1:1). There was an interaction between gibberellin concentration and the type of planting media on the parameters of plant height at the age of 105-112 HST, and the number of flowers. The combined treatment of gibberellin concentration of 500 ppm + planting media of husk charcoal: soil gave the best interaction results on plant height parameters (109.01 cm) and the number of flowers (3.53 flowers). Based on the conclusion, it can be suggested that the use of plant media in chrysanthemum plants in the lowlands needs to be considered. Especially the addition of organic matter to plants so that chrysanthemum plants can grow and develop properly.
