Abstract

Information on the presence of race 4 fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cepae (Foce) that causes moler disease in shallots in East Java has not been well identified. This is the background for the researchers to conduct this research with the aim of proving the existence of Force race 4 which has special characteristics that can attack all types of shallot cultivars. Identification methods that will be used are Volatile Odor Test (VOT), Biochemistry, Vegetative Compatible Group (VCG), and virulence tests on several shallot cultivars (Bauji, Tajuk and Biru Lancor) to prove their pathogenicity. The results of exploration of moler disease in shallot plants in Magetan, Nganjuk and Probolinggo districts found 9 Foce isolates. Based on the VOT and Biochemistry tests, it was found that 6 isolates contained aldehydes or characterized as race 4 and 3 other isolates did not contain aldehydes or were not race 4. Based on the VCG test, it was found that of the 6 isolates identified as race 4, two isolates were known to have the same strain between each other marked with ability to form heterokaryons. Based on the virulence test, it was found that the 4 isolates were able to attack all tested plant cultivars. Based on the analysis of data on the incubation period and the intensity of the disease, it is known that the most susceptible Bauji cultivar and the most resistant Canopy. It is hoped that the results of this study can be continued to obtain distribution maps of Force race 4 in Indonesia.
