Abstract
Population growth that continues to increase from year to year causes the need for tomatoes to increase. This is reflected in tomato production figures based on data from total national consumption in 2018 of 1,003,015 tons, increasing in 2019 to 1,053,249 tons (Center for Agricultural Data and Information Systems, 2020). The problem that has occurred is the decrease in total productivity of tomatoes in 2016 by 15.31 tons/Ha from 16.09 tons/Ha in 2015 (Central Bureau of Statistics and Directorate General of Horticulture, 2017). One of the factors for decreased productivity in tomato cultivation is due to high flower loss. Efforts that can be made in dealing with the decline in tomato production due to flower loss is to optimize the success of flowering (fruit-set), one of which is through fertilization. The author's rationale based on Rosyidah's research (2017) shows that at several doses of KCl fertilizer which includes doses of 75kg/ha, 150kg/ha, 225kg/ha and 300kg/ha the optimal dose is achieved at 225.73kg/ha with a maximum fruit yield of 836.876 g. However, the levels between these fertilizer doses are too far apart, so it is necessary to do research with a lower KCl fertilizer dose level to find out whether the optimal dose of KCl fertilizer is 225.73 kg/ha or a more optimal dose is obtained compared to that dose. The purpose of this study is expected to provide information and benchmarks in determining the optimum dose of potassium fertilizer for vegetative growth and flowering of tomato plants. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture at the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur from May to July 2023. This research was a study compiled using a Randomized Block Design (RBD). Consists of 7 levels and repeated three times for each treatment. Each treatment contained three plant samples so that a total of 63 populations were obtained. The treatment factors were D1= 150kg/ha (6gr/plant), D2= 175kg/ha (7gr/plant), D3= 200kg/ha (8gr/plant), D4= 225kg/ha (9gr/plant), D5= 250kg/ha (10gr/plant), D6= 275kg/ha (11gr/plant), D7= 300kg/ha (12gr/ plants). Observational variables include: plant height, number of leaves, age at which flowers appear, number of flowers, and temperature. The results showed that the treatment of various doses of KCl fertilizer had no effect on the growth of plant height and number of leaves, a dose of 250 kg/ha gave an increase of 0.89% in the age at which flowers appeared and an increase of 3.33% in the number of flowers compared to the recommended dose of 225 kg/ha.
