Abstract
A Polypropylene Factory from Propylene Using the UNIPOL Process with a Capacity of 400,000 Tonnes/Year will be established in the Industrial Area of PT. Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC), Banten. The main raw material is Propylene (C3H6). While the supporting raw materials are Hydrogen (H2), Ziegler-Natta Catalyst, and Additives in the form of Penthaerythritol Tetrakis (C73H108O12). The polypropylene pellet production process consists of four stages of the process. The first is the raw material preparation stage, where propylene and hydrogen gas will be compared to the operating conditions of the reactor. In the second stage of the polymerization process, the two gases namely propylene and hydrogen will come into contact with the Ziegler Natta catalyst in the reactor so that a polymerization reaction occurs to produce polypropylene products and unreacted residual gas. The third step is separation, the polypropylene product and unreacted residual gas will be separated through a cyclone and bag filter. The solid product released by the cyclone and filter bag will be accommodated in the product bin while the remaining unreacted gas will be returned to the reactor to be recycled. The last stage is the pellet formation stage, where the product that has been accommodated in the product bin will enter the extruder pelletizer for the pellet formation process and then will be cooled before entering the polypropylene silo for the packing process. The electricity needed for the Polypropylene Factory to be built is obtained from PLN and the Generator Set, and cooling water is obtained from the nearest river, namely the Cidanau River. This factory uses a Limited Liability Company or PT organizational system, with line and staff organizational forms. This factory is planned to work continuously with operating time during the production period of 330 days per year.
