Abstract

Roads include infrastructure that is very important for human needs. In the construction of road pavements, materials are needed as well as the main ingredients of a construction, so that good materials are needed and meet the criteria for use in construction work. Madura is an island located in the East Java region which has enormous natural potential, one of which is the potential for mining crushed stone material, but in construction work many AMP companies in Madura still use materials originating from outside Madura, one of which is coarse aggregate from Pasuruan Regency. Therefore, research on asphalt mixtures was carried out using coarse aggregates from Pasuruan Regency and Madura coarse aggregates, with the hope that Madura Island could utilize the local aggregates as an alternative in the manufacture of asphalt mixtures. This research was conducted to determine the effect of the use ratio between Java coarse aggregate and Madura coarse aggregate in AC-WC asphalt mixture on Marshall characteristics. Variations in asphalt content used are 4%, 5.55%, and 7%. For each variation in content, 4 samples were made for a total of 24 samples. The test specimens were made using an asphalt mixture with AC-WC layers and then tested using the Marshall method to obtain VIM, VMA, VFA, Flow, Stability, and Marshall Quotient values. The results of this study indicate that the optimum asphalt content variation is at 7% asphalt content. Where in Java coarse aggregate all meet the requirements of Bina Marga 2018 with a stability value of 1010.27 kg, a flow value of 3.80 mm, an MQ value of 266.56 kg/mm, a VIM value of 4.45%, a VMA value of 18.76%, and a value VFA 76.31%. Whereas in Madura coarse aggregate there are several values that do not meet the requirements including the VIM value of 8.64% and the VFA value of 60.97%, and those that meet the requirements are stability of 990.74 kg, flow of 3.78 mm, MQ of 261.56% , and VMA 22.12%. From this study it can be concluded that the use of Java coarse aggregate is better than Madura coarse aggregate based on the results of most Marshall parameter values which are higher than Madura coarse aggregate.
