Abstract
Starfruit is a fruit that has high economic value and is widely cultivated in Indonesia. However, pest attacks on starfruit, such as fruit flies, can cause damage to the fruit, reduce the quality, and decrease the quantity of the harvest. Therefore, efforts are needed to control pest attacks on starfruit, one of which is by using wrapping materials on the fruit. This study aims to determine the effect of different wrapping materials on the production and fruit fly infestation of starfruit. The research was conducted from June 2022 to July 2022 in the starfruit plantation of Tasikmadu Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency. The tools used in this study include staples, scissors, markers, digital camera, measuring tape, observation book, analytical scale, ruler, calipers, marker, and cutter. The materials used in the research are plastic bags, newspaper, wax paper, gauze, raffia string, and label paper. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) method with 6 treatments and 15 replications. The treatments used were newspaper, a combination of newspaper and plastic, gauze, wax paper, plastic bags, and a control treatment (without wrapping). The results of the study showed that the combination of newspaper and plastic was the most effective wrapping material in reducing fruit fly infestation and increasing production in starfruit. This treatment showed the lowest fruit fly infestation intensity at 0% and had the best production characteristics with a weight of (133.67) grams, length of (9.80) cm, diameter of (6.15) cm, and the highest quality among other wrapping material treatments. Meanwhile, the gauze wrapping treatment showed the highest fruit fly infestation intensity at 33.33% and had the lowest production characteristics with a weight of (98.33) grams, length of (8.33) cm, diameter of (5.83) cm, and the lowest quality among the different wrapping material treatments
