Abstract
The alt-right movement in Germany promoted anti-political establishment ideas against the open migration policy for immigrants, waves of refugees from the Middle East, progressive movements such as gender equality, and anti-lgbtqi. The alt-right movement relies on media framing and fake news to prove effective in increasing public recognition of their existence to raise an issue of subjective bias. When spreading their influence, the alt-right movement often attacks their opponents by spreading both implicit and explicit hate narratives by utilising online hate, memes, and reformatted pop culture with the addition of disguised idea values so that only some people can recognise the hateful and racial elements brought by them. In the end, they often escape the charge of harnessing the protection behind the idea of satirical humour, dark jokes, or mere shitposting to preserve freedom of expression. In examining the alt-right movement in the German Federation, the author uses descriptive research methods to systematically describe, illustrate, and explain the facts of the phenomenon under study. In addition, the author uses secondary data collection techniques utilising literature studies both through physical and online books, news, journals, annual reports, and so on to answer the problem formulation. This research found that the alt-right movement in Germany is a form of counter-globalization hegemony that stems from people's dissatisfaction with globalization, which encourages domination, resulting in global hegemony. This movement is also an impact of a similar movement that was born and developed in the United States, but was glocalized so that it eventually reached Germany. This movement is a type of new social movement that can be identified through a four-stage social movement theory approach to describe the initial emergence, coalition, organisation, and decline phases of the movement. The author then concludes that the alt-right movement can be resolved by the oppression of the German Federation government even though it has not been fully eradicated to its roots. Keywords: Alt-right, Social movement, Glocalization, Counter-globalization Hegemony, Germany.
