Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a plant that belongs to the Solanaceae family and is one of the leading horticultural commodities in Indonesia and has the potential to be developed. Cayenne pepper production in Indonesia has increased from 2017 to 2020, but will decrease in 2021. Efforts that can be made to increase the production of cayenne pepper plants are proper cultivation techniques, one of which is fertilization. Green Tonik liquid fertilizer can stimulate and accelerate the growth of new branches, increase tillers, increase the number of leaves, prevent wilting and loss of leaves, flowers and fruit. This needs to be supported by giving the right concentration and time interval of fertilizer application. This research was conducted from December to May 2023. This research was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture at the "Veteran" National Development University, East Java. This study was a 2-factor factorial experiment arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications and each replication consisted of 3 samples in order to obtain 81 cayenne pepper plants. The first factor is the concentration of Green Tonik fertilizer which consists of 3 levels and the second factor is the time interval of application of Green Tonik fertilizer which consists of 3 levels, namely, Factor 1: The concentration of Green Tonik fertilizer consists of 3 levels (K1): Application of 1 ml/L of Green Tonik fertilizer of water, (K2): Application of Green Tonik fertilizer 2 ml/L of water, (K3): Application of Green Tonik fertilizer 3 ml/L of water. Factor 2: The time interval for application of Green Tonik fertilizer consists of 3 levels, (W1): 5 once a day (10, 15, 20, 25, 30 HST), (W2) : once every 10 days (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 HST), (W3) : once every 15 days (10, 25, 40, 55 , 70 HST). Observational variables included: plant height, number of leaves, age of flower appearance, number of flowers, number of productive branches, percentage of flowers to fruit (fruit-set), total number of fruit planted, total fruit weight of the plant. The results showed that there was an interaction between the concentration of foliar fertilizer and the time interval of foliar application on the number of leaves. The combination of foliar fertilizer concentration of 2 ml/L with an interval of 10 days of foliar application was the best treatment combination during the vegetative phase. The concentration of foliar fertilizers significantly affected plant height and number of leaves. Treatment of foliar fertilizer concentration of 2 ml/L is the best treatment. The time interval treatment of foliar fertilizer application had a significant effect on plant height and number of leaves. The time interval treatment for foliar fertilizer application once every 10 days is the best treatment.
